Taste

Light Dark

Filling your cup with a smooth, heavy body of rich, Indonesian coffee, Organic Sumatra 'Gayo Mountain' is much sweeter and less bitter than 'Black Satin'. Roasted until right before the second crack stage, this medium-dark roast organic coffee is spicy and lowly acidic.

Burnt taste

I have been drinking coffee for over 50 years and I am admittedly not a fan of Starbucks. IMO Starbucks over roasts their beans and most of their coffee tastes burnt. I like an east coast medium to medium dark roast and upon opening the bag of this coffee I was immediately worried because of the darkness of the roast and the glossy sheen, indicating a long roast.

When I made my first pot of coffee, the taste reminded me of burnt toast or of a pot of coffee that had been made and set on the warmer for 4 hours. It was not good. I could get some hints of a nice bean, but the over-roasted burnt taste was the overwhelming flavor.

If you like a burnt flavor in your coffee, this one is for you. For me, I will not purchase again. I will continue to purchase Sulawesi and Burundi as my choices, as those are roasted to my desired taste.

Very Nice

I usually use Sumatra Black Satin and decided to try this. It wasn't as rich as Black Satin however had a nice dusky flavor and definately low acidity. While the aroma is heavenly, I will stick to Black Satin.

Smooth and dark.

First time trying this one. We like the Sumatran Black Satin coffee, so we decided to try this. I'd say it's a little lighter than the Black Satin, but still a dark roast, nice and bold and smooth without any bitterness. I wish there was a decaf option.
