With the new interest in non-alcoholic cocktails, also known as mocktails, there are many recipes that are available that you can have any time. Here are some unique coffee recipes you can try to stay cool during these hot months.

Coffee Old Fashioned

A cold brew base is the secret to this warm weather chiller. The citrusy orange adds a summery brightness.

Ingredients

2 tsp sugar (preferably raw)

4 tsp warm water

5 dashes orange bitters

4 oz prepared cold brew

Orange wedge and maraschino cherry

Directions

Combine the sugar and warm water in a rocks glass and stir until the sugar is melted. Add in the bitters, ice cubes, and cold brew. Stir to mix. Garnish with the orange wedge and cherry.

Espresso Julep

The minty julep gets a different kick from espresso in this icy concoction.

Ingredients

1-2 tsp honey

10 mint leaves

1/4 oz fresh lime juice

2 shots espresso, cooled

3 oz tonic (try Fever Tree)

Mint sprig and lime wheel

Directions

Add tonic to a crushed ice filled rocks glass or julep cup and set aside. In a shaker tin, gently muddle the honey and mint leaves. Add the espresso and lime juice. Add ice and shake lightly to chill. Strain ingredients of tin into the prepared rocks glass or julep cup. Garnish with a sprig of mint and lime wheel.

Coffee Shandy

Also known as a Coffee Palmer, mixing coffee and lemonade is such a refreshing Summer drink you’ll wonder why you never thought of it before.

Coffee, chilled

Lemonade

Lemon wedge and mint sprig

Directions

In a pint glass filled with ice, combine equal amounts of chilled coffee and lemonade. Garnish with lemon and mint.

Coffee Cola

Like a bourbon or rum and cola, this coffee and cola is a refreshing kicker without the side effects.

Ingredients

4 oz coffee (chilled)

2 tsp maple syrup

3 oz cola (chilled)

Lemon slice

Directions

In a highball glass, combine coffee and maple syrup. Stir to mix and add ice. Top with your favorite cola and garnish with a lemon slice.

Coffee Mule

Super popular, mules can be found everywhere nowadays. Put a non-alcoholic twist on your mule substituting coffee for the usual vodka.

3 oz cold brew coffee

3 oz ginger beer

1 oz sweetened lime juice

Lime wedge

Directions

In a shaker tin filled with ice, add coffee and lime juice. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass or copper mug filled with crushed ice. Pour in the ginger beer and stir gently. Top with a lime wedge.

Coffee Colada

Here’s a frozen drink with a twist. The pina colada gets an extra burst of flavor with your favorite coffee.

Coffee ice cubes

Maui Pina Colada Smoothie Mix

Pineapple wedge and leaves

Directions

Brew your favorite coffee and freeze into ice cubes. Make the pina colada as the package directs, substituting your premade coffee ice cubes for ice. Pour into a pint or hurricane glass and garnish with pineapple wedge and leaves.
