Do Dragons Drink Coffee?

We all have our reasons for drinking coffee and tea. Because we like it, to take a much-needed break, for an energy boost… And coffee and tea drinkers come from all kinds of backgrounds from business people to teachers to students to retail workers to stay at home parents... And we all have our preferred way to blow off steam. We read, watch TV or movies, play sports, or play games (board games, card games, video games).

This weekend, one of the largest pop culture conventions in the world will be taking place in our backyard. Dragon Con! Catering to fans from all walks of life and genres of fandom, Dragon Con is a five-day convention that takes place in downtown Atlanta. Always scheduled over Labor Day weekend, this Con attracts people from all over the world to attend panels about their favorite shows, movies, books, games, and more.

Dragon Con is run by fans for fans. There are 2,500 volunteers who work over the 120+ hours (not to mention preparations year-round) to bring well planned and researched discussions about shows like Star Trek, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, and Doctor Who along with movies like Star Wars, Deadpool, The Avengers, and Suicide Squad. There is a comic book alley with DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and countless independent comics.

Authors like Jim Butcher, Jody Lynn Nye, and Timothy Zahn are in attendance as well as celebrities like George Takei, William Shatner, DB Woodside, and Freema Agyeman. Many artists and musicians, dance parties and balls, an art gallery, a night at the Georgia Aquarium, and even a parade keep attendees busy. Tabletop gaming and electronic gaming is available, digital media panels, writing workshops, and a multi-level vendor hall.

And the cosplays? Nothing short of extraordinary.

Celebrating its 32nd year, Dragon Con has grown to over 80,000 attendees known as members. Five host hotels are home to the convention (Marriott Marquis Atlanta, Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Hilton Atlanta, and Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel) while the Americas Mart holds the gaming and vendor areas.

This year, CoffeeAM will be providing coffee for the food and beverage outlets at Dragon Con. The Con Suite, a free to attendees hospitality suite, will be serving freshly roasted coffee from CoffeeAM as will the celebrity green room and the Volunteer Village where Dragon Con volunteers can grab some relaxation time.

In addition to coffee, CoffeeAM will be providing tea for specific events in the Alternate History track. For the Splendid Teapot Race on Saturday, winners will receive gift baskets which will include gourmet loose leaf tea. At the Annual Dragon Con Duel, the winner will receive a tea gift set from our wide selection of samplers and gifts. And in the Alternate History track room, a coffee and tea gift set will be available for a raffle prize.

If you are going to be in the Atlanta area for Dragon Con, make sure to stop by the Con Suite to have a cup of your favorite coffee. And head over to the Alternate History track rooms to try your chance at the raffle prize. For some unique events, go check out the Tea Duel and Teapot Races. They’re a lot of fun.
