Coffee In Your BBQ Sauce? You Bet!

Next week, the US of A is celebrating our independence, hard fought and won in 1776. There will be backyard family cookouts and fireworks displays in towns across the country. And though a little party you may have heard of helped the then colonists to embrace coffee over tea, we bet they didn’t expect coffee to become such a cornerstone of our society as it has today.   BBQ sauce   Days like this are great for hot dogs and hamburgers, but if you’re looking for something a little different to serve your friends and family, grill up some chicken, pork, or even beef and brush on this Black Coffee BBQ sauce. Black Coffee BBQ Sauce

1⁄2 cup brewed coffee, espresso preferred 1 cup ketchup 1⁄4 cup red wine vinegar 3⁄4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed 1 onion, peeled and chopped, about 1 cup 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed 2 tablespoons dark molasses 2 tablespoons hot dry mustard, mixed with 1 tablespoon water 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 2 tablespoons cumin, ground 2 tablespoons chili powder
  Directions Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Cool, then puree in a blender or food processor until smooth. This can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks in a covered container.
