In the 1600s, coffee beans traveled in cargo holds, sometimes for up to six months, from India to Europe on slow sailing ships. They were stowed away in damp conditions with no access to fresh air or sunlight. By the time they arrived in Europe, they were swollen and yellowed. The Europeans, not knowing any different, brewed and enjoyed them. They loved the sweetly fermented brew that had intriguing earthy and well-balanced flavors.

Since the beans are no longer subject to dark, long voyages across the sea, the conditions have been recreated. Monsooning is a 16-week, wet process method that recreates the conditions of a sea voyage to produce distinctive tasting coffee. At a medium roast, India Malabar 'Monsooned Voyage' is a very distinctive coffee that yields a top-grade brew. It is known for its medium body, gentle tanginess, and mellow flavor, and unforgettable aroma.

Some dang good coffee

I’m a huge fan of Jamaica Blue Mountain, specifically, Clifton Mount Estate Peaberry. This is the Cadillac of coffee IMO but at $80-$100 a pound, I only buy every so often plus it’s hard to find in a medium roast. I’m lucky I’ve got a guy tho.

Anyways, due to the high cost of that coffee, I’ve been on the hunt for an equally tasty coffee that won’t break the bank. I’ve purchased many 1/2 pound bags from Coffee AM to try out. Most were good but none wowed me UNTIL I tried the Indian Malabar Monsoon coffee. It’s got a different and unique flavor that is oh so good. Earthy and just amazing. I taste some chocolatey deliciousness too at the end. It’s smooth, non bitter but has a ton of flavor. So many coffees have 2 out of my 3 desires - smooth, not bitter, AND has flavor. So many only have 2 - usually smooth and not bitter but too mild in flavor but not this coffee. It has all 3.

This is my new daily go to and I’ll continue to ration out my ridiculously expensive JBM for special days. No offense Coffee AM but your JBM Estate isn’t the same as Clifton Mount Peaberry. Wink wink, please add that to your sales roster so I can buy along with this coffee and be happy!

Please do try this if you’re looking for something different, unique and interesting that will make your mouth go mmmmm!

Love - a very picky coffee lover

A surprisingly good cup of coffee

I was intrigued by a coffee from India. From the first sip, this coffee became my favorite. Light, not acidity, flavorful, no aftertaste. Definitely worth giving a try if you are unsure of what coffee to buy next.
