Often referred to as "The Treasure of the Caribbean," this organic coffee from Santo Domingo is definitely one of the best kept secrets of the region.

Many people in Santo Domingo make a living from the production of coffee, so strict measures are taken to ensure quality and standards are upheld. Most coffee is grown on small farms and is tended to by devoted farmers and their families who greatly benefit from its production.

The climate is ideal for coffee trees; the nearby ocean brings about cool trade winds and cloud cover that protects the trees from excessive sunlight and fosters a humid environment so the trees and the coffee cherries mature slowly. The unique tastes exhibited by the coffee come from the rich soil of the mountainous regions in which the trees are planted. Medium-bodied and well balanced, this gourmet coffee contains a unique complexity in each sip.

Smooth full bodied brew

One of my repeat orders. Drink it black without cream or sugar. It has a full bodied smooth taste and nice mouth feel. Agree with the person who said it had low acidity. In general I can drink those low acid coffees without aggravating GERD.

Light and low acidic

This has become our preferred coffee due to the low acidity and no heartburn. We used to buy a brand that was specifically marketed as low acidity. After researching acidity and finding that low altitude helps reduce acidity naturally we tried a bunch of different brands from different areas and found this one to be our favorite.

Not My Cup of Tea

I found this brew to be unexceptional in every way. The body was so light as to be meh, the flavor was so bland I really couldn't wait to get the rest of it gone. Just one man's opinion, you might like it, I most certainly did not.

My Favorite Coffee

I first tried the Dominican coffee because it was suggested somewhere that it is as similar as you can get to Jamaican coffee, without the $60/lb. price tag. I don't know if that's true, but it is excellent coffee. I have purchased repeatedly by the 5 lb. bag!
