South American Coffee
For some of the most consistently delicious coffees, look no further than South America. This continent, comprised of over a dozen individual countries, produces flavorful coffees that are enjoyed the world over. Coffee farms in South America can be found high in the mountains and benefit from the climate provided by the Amazon Rainforest. Generally, coffees from South America are sweet and fruity with low acidity and a clean finish while each growing area imparts slightly different flavor profiles.
Coffee from Colombia is grown in the mid-west in an area known as the "Coffee Growing Axis." These coffees tend to be smooth, well-balanced, and bright. Peruvian coffees can be found growing on small farms in the eastern Andes Mountains. They present as light with mild acidity and a sweetly nutty flavor. For coffees that are bright and fruity with sweet caramel and chocolate notes, choose coffees from Bolivia. Finally, Brazil produces one-third of all coffee consumed around the world. Brazilian coffees are sweet and nutty with notes of bright fruit and rich chocolate.
