I was first exposed to Kona in Hawaii, the problem with most stateside purchases of this bean is its either grossly expensive for the genuine thing, or it tastes too floral. I've tried many different sources of Kona beans at the below $30 lb price point, up till now they have all disappointed. Though describing flavor is always a challenge, this bean from CoffeeAM delivers a satisfying taste that still has the floral notes of a Kona, but with a earthy base to where I don't feel I'm drinking a coffee influenced tea. The freshness of the roast was nothing short of remarkable, another significant mark in its favor.
i love this coffee. i buy it often. i feel rich when i drink it since it has such a good flavor and it smells really good. We have been buying this blend for several years in the whole bean and find it to be consistently excellent. We really look forward to that first cup in the morning.
I really love some of the other Hawaiian coffees I have purchased from CoffeeAM. This one just was not as good. I have never tried the "straight" Kona coffee, however, this is the best Kona blend I have tasted since I left Hawaii. When I lived in Hawaii I did not drink anything except Kona. It is NOT a bold, full bodied coffee like say Sumatra. it is more a medium blend like Jamaica Blue, except IMHO, it has a little better flavor than Jamaica Blue (which I also love). Of course I do add an extra scoop or two for added flavor. I was somewhat disappointed with the very mild non distinct Aroma or Flavor. The other reviews ranted and raved how wonderful this coffee is, but it doesn't seem that special to me. Is this how the best coffee in the world is supposed to be?
