Brazil 'Moreninha Formosa' Coffee (5lb Bag)

Moreninha Formosa is one of the 31 plots that make up the farm Fazenda Aurea. Grown outside the city of Serra do Salitre, Minas Gerais, Cerrado Mineiro. Average altitude 1200 meters (pretty high for Brazil!), cultivar is mundo novo. This is a full natural coffee that is dried on raised African beds - this results in faster and more even drying, which means a more even roast as well as more flavor in the coffee. Dark chocolate, cherry and a hint of orange emerge at lighter roasts. Amazing thick chewy mouthfeel, full body, sweet cup, hint of nuttiness.

Excellent medium/light roast !

This a great all-day brew. I grind it med-coarse and in a french press. It tastes mild, sweet, a little acidic but balanced overall. The roast is perfect for me and the delivery was fast with super-fresh beans! This is a terrific break from dark roasts! Yes! "Fresh roast" does taste better!

Dark and lovely

I usually don't go for the dark coffees but I love this Brazilian varietal. It brews up dark and strong with great aroma and without excessive wineyness. I am glad that Coffee AM offers it at such a reasonable price. Even people who avoid coffees from Brazil on "general principle" would be well advised to try this one.

Central and South American coffees

While we enjoy the the African coffees, the smooth multilayered flavors of the Americas coffees bring us back. This is a fine example of what we like.

Average at Best
July 4, 2012
After multiple purchases of Brazilian Sul de Minas from various roasters, I decide to give the Moreninha Formosa from CoffeeAM a try. I must say that this coffee did not impress me. The nose was average, complexity was empty and the finish was average at best. While I'm disappointed with my purchase, I am sure this is not a problem with the roaster. I would call this user (buyer) error, in acquiring with a flavor profile in mind and getting something entirely different than what was expected. If you like the coffee with no complexity, this could be your selection. If you want a coffee that is fun and flavorful, I would suggest something other than Moreninha Formosa.

I liked the Brasilia moreninha very much, it has more body than the Brasil Santos.

I've always been a fan of Brazilian dry roast, and this does not disappoint. One of the better coffees I've ever had, and the best in this category
